Jungnang-gu Fully Supports Brokerage Fees for Jeonse and Monthly Rent for Low-Income Residents

12 Years of Continuous Implementation Since 2009's 'Nationwide First Low-Income Resident Free Brokerage Service'... Full Brokerage Fee Support for Jeon/Wolse Lease Contracts Under 100 Million Won Deposit

Jungnang-gu Fully Supports Brokerage Fees for Jeonse and Monthly Rent for Low-Income Residents

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The free brokerage service for low-income residents provided by Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) is gaining great popularity among local residents.

The free brokerage service is a project that the district has been running for 12 years since 2009, when it was first implemented nationwide to stabilize housing for low-income residents. It fully covers brokerage fees incurred when recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, child-headed households, and severely disabled households sign lease contracts such as jeonse or monthly rent.

In particular, since 2010, the district has been promoting the free brokerage service project by signing a separate Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Jungnang-gu branch of the Korea Association of Realtors.

For example, under the free brokerage service, if a beneficiary signs a housing lease contract with a deposit of 100 million KRW or less, they can receive free brokerage fees up to a maximum of 300,000 KRW, excluding value-added tax.

Since last year, the district has reflected the increase in lease deposits and significantly raised the eligibility criteria for support from 75 million KRW or less to 100 million KRW or less.

With the raised support criteria, not only has the number of beneficiaries expanded, but it has also greatly helped stabilize housing for low-income residents.

Since the project was first implemented nationwide in 2009, a total of 1,542 low-income households have received brokerage fee support, with the total amount of support reaching approximately 170 million KRW, easing the brokerage fee burden for many low-income residents.

Residents wishing to receive the free brokerage service can apply at the local community center when registering their move-in after signing the lease contract.

After applying for the service, the responsible public official verifies eligibility, and once confirmed, the district and the Jungnang-gu branch of the Korea Association of Realtors pay the full brokerage fee to the beneficiary.

Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “Jungnang-gu’s free brokerage service has achieved the highest support results nationwide, and I consider it very meaningful as it helps stabilize housing for low-income residents. We will continue to consider expanding the service so that more people can benefit.”
