Interview and Job Experience Preparation Process Expanded to All Apprentice Schools in July

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government has decided to expand the operation of the 'Doje Preparation Course (Job Market),' a program that allows pre-experience such as interviews and site visits.

On the 17th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that as a result of piloting the program at 11 industry-academia integrated Doje schools since December last year, 303 people were employed at 149 companies.

From July, the program will be expanded to all Doje schools.

Doje schools are an educational training system where students from the 2nd or 3rd year of specialized high schools are hired as apprentice workers to learn theory and practice. It is a 'work-study parallel' type program at the high school level.

It has been operated since 2015, and until last year, 20,430 students from 163 specialized high schools participated. The employment rate as of last year was 59.3%.

Sometimes, hiring was conducted without sufficient information being provided mutually between students and companies.

In contrast, the Job Market conducts interviews and non-face-to-face video interviews in advance, followed by company site visits.

In particular, in this Job Market, the Korea Employment Welfare Center and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea jointly supported non-face-to-face interview techniques and discovered excellent companies to link with employment.

Song Hongseok, Director of the Vocational Competency Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Employment, said, "Based on excellent cases, we plan to establish a standard model for the Job Market and expand it so that it can be implemented at all Doje schools from July this year."
