In the episode of TV Chosun's variety show "Taste of Wife" aired on the 16th, the remodeling of the old house owned by the couple Hong Hyun-hee and Jay-sun was revealed.
The couple recently purchased an old house in Seoul, becoming building owners. They planned to remodel the building to use it as a cafe. To assess the interior, they toured the building, and Jay-sun said, "The basement area is about 30 pyeong, but there are many walls, so it looks cramped." Regarding the reason for purchasing the old house, he said, "It’s not that we didn’t consider new construction, but there are height restrictions due to the surrounding scenery. We thought remodeling would be much better."
Experts evaluated the couple's property, saying, "There is a mountain behind and the Han River in front. They bought a really good piece of land."
The couple decided to remove all the basement walls and expand the two-story building into a three-story building with an attic, planning an open terrace in the attic. Jay-sun said, "If construction finishes quickly, we expect it to be around late March to early April. Tomorrow, we have to go for a structural X-ray." He added, "If there are people who are financially struggling and want to hold a wedding, we can rent out the entire space. We bought it not for profit but to realize what we want to do."
Then, Jay-sun and Hong Hyun-hee held interviews for cafe part-time workers. Hong Hyun-hee said, "Comedians these days don’t have much work, so we decided to give jobs to our juniors."
The cafe is scheduled to open in May. Regarding the reason for hiring staff in advance, Jay-sun explained, "Since we need to develop the menu first, I thought it would be better to work together with people introduced by acquaintances."
