[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] A report has been filed with the police that the interior of the women's sauna at the 5-star hotel 'Grand Chosun' in Seogwipo City, Jeju, was visible from the outside, sparking controversy. It is known that among the guests who have complained of being victims are newlyweds, and the so-called 'Jeju 5-star Hotel Grand Chosun Interior Incident' is rapidly spreading.

According to the Seogwipo Police Station today (16th), a report was received on the afternoon of the 13th stating, "The interior of the women's sauna and restroom in the Grand Chosun Hotel suite room is structured so that it can be seen from the outside, raising concerns that users' nudity may have been exposed."

The reporter is known to have used the women's sauna and restroom in the hotel suite room on the 11th and 12th. The police, upon receiving the report, are checking through the hotel's closed-circuit television (CCTV) whether the sauna interior was exposed to the outside and if anyone witnessed the exposure.

On the previous day (15th), a post titled "Nudity was exposed in the sauna of a 5-star hotel in Jeju" was uploaded on a portal site. The author explained, "We stayed for two days at a newly opened 5-star hotel suite room in Jeju for our honeymoon and used the suite room's private swimming pool and shower facilities."

However, the newlyweds' sweet trip soon turned into a nightmare. The writer lamented, "I thought the sauna glass was coated to block visibility so that the inside could not be seen from outside, and that inside, you could enjoy the outside scenery while using the sauna."

The author continued, "On the last day of our stay, while taking a walk, I looked at the sauna window and realized that from the outside, even the letters on the sauna's thermometer could be seen," recounting the absurd situation at the time.

They added, "The hotel responded that the glass has a blocking coating so the interior is not visible during the day and that blinds are lowered in the evening, but the blinds were never lowered during the time I used the sauna," criticizing the hotel.

The author expressed frustration, saying, "I paid over 800,000 won per night and suffered the humiliation of showering naked in front of others," and "Because the hotel did not notify guests about this, other users are unaware of the damage."

As the controversy spread, the Grand Chosun Hotel Jeju stated, "The new building's sauna is equipped with glass blocking coating and blinds, which are operated flexibly depending on weather conditions and time of day," and "It was identified that due to a mistake, the blinds were not lowered in some parts of the sauna."

The hotel also added, "We are reviewing CCTV footage together with the police investigation, and it has been confirmed that no damage as feared occurred," and "We will make greater efforts to ensure meticulous on-site management for customer safety and convenience in the future."
