[Today’s Weather] Cloudy Nationwide with Rain Until Morning... Strong Winds Lower Daytime Temperatures

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] On Monday the 15th, rain is expected in most parts of the country. It will also become colder with strong winds.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted, "Due to the influence of cold air descending from the northwest, temperatures will drop more than 10 degrees compared to the previous day (14th)."

In the morning, rain will fall in most areas nationwide except for the east coast of Gangwon. There will be gusts of wind along with thunder and lightning in the southern coast and Jeju Island.

Snow mixed with rain is expected mainly in the central region, and snow accumulation is expected in the mountainous areas of Gangwon.

Expected precipitation amounts are around 5mm in the central region (excluding the east coast of Gangwon), Jeolla region (excluding the southern coast), Gyeongsang region (excluding the coastal areas of South Gyeongsang), the five western islands, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo (until 3 a.m. on the 16th).

Expected snowfall from midnight to noon on the 15th is 1 to 3 cm in the Gangwon mountainous areas, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo (between 6 p.m. on the 15th and 3 a.m. on the 16th).

The cloudy weather will gradually clear nationwide from the afternoon.

Strong wind warnings may be issued for the west coast, east coast, Gangwon mountainous areas, and Jeju Island, where winds will blow very strongly at 10 to 16 m/s. Winds will also be strong at 9 to 14 m/s in other regions, so caution is advised to prevent safety accidents.

Morning low temperatures by region are forecasted as follows: △Seoul 3°C △Chuncheon 2°C △Gangneung 6°C △Daejeon 4°C △Cheongju 4°C △Daegu 7°C △Gwangju 6°C △Jeonju 5°C △Busan 10°C △Jeju 10°C.

Daytime high temperatures are forecasted as: △Seoul 3°C △Chuncheon 5°C △Gangneung 11°C △Daejeon 6°C △Cheongju 5°C △Daegu 9°C △Gwangju 7°C △Jeonju 6°C △Busan 14°C △Jeju 10°C.

Fine dust levels will be 'bad' in Seoul, Incheon, southern Gyeonggi, Chungnam, and Daegu, while other regions will experience levels ranging from 'good' to 'moderate.' However, northern Gyeonggi, Yeongseo in Gangwon, Sejong, and Chungbuk will temporarily experience 'bad' levels in the morning.

The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "In areas where rain and snow fall from dawn to morning, there may be icy patches on the roads. When driving, maintain sufficient distance between vehicles and reduce speed to prevent collision accidents and other damages."
