Creating a Happy Apartment Community with Neighbors

Seoul Gangseo-gu Launches '2021 Apartment Community Revitalization Project'...Up to 5 Million Won Support for 6 Community Revitalization Areas

Creating a Happy Apartment Community with Neighbors

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) has embarked on fostering a residential community culture that shares affection and consideration among neighbors.

The district announced that it will promote the ‘2021 Apartment Community Revitalization Project,’ which supports activities of resident communities within apartment complexes.

The purpose is to form and practice communities in multi-family housing and create a healthy residential community culture where neighbors live together harmoniously.

The Apartment Community Revitalization Project is a program that partially supports the costs of community activation programs proposed and participated in directly by residents.

This year, the district has selected and will support six project areas: ▲Communication and resident harmony ▲Eco-friendly practices and experiences ▲Hobbies and startups ▲Health and exercise ▲Neighborly help and social service ▲Mixed (two or more project fields).

The support targets apartment complexes located within Gangseo-gu, with a total budget of 30 million KRW, providing from a minimum of 1 million KRW to a maximum of 5 million KRW per complex.

The self-payment rate is applied differentially from 10% to 40% depending on the years of project participation, with new communities receiving a lower self-payment rate to encourage more participation.

Additionally, to help residents easily plan and operate projects, community activity experts selected by the district will visit apartments directly to provide consulting on the projects.

Apartment complexes wishing to apply must submit application documents, including a project proposal and plan jointly prepared by the residents’ representative meeting, community activation group, and the head of the management office, by March 5th, either by visiting the Housing Division on the 5th floor of Gangseo-gu Office or by mail (302 Hwagok-ro, Gangseo-gu Office, 5th floor, Housing Division, Gangseo-gu).

Detailed information can be found on the ‘Gangseo-gu Office website - News Plaza - Notices/News,’ where necessary application forms can also be downloaded.

The supported projects and amounts will be finally selected through a comprehensive review of eight categories including resident participation, budget feasibility, and project necessity based on the project proposals, followed by a multi-family housing support review in March.

A district official said, “We hope for much interest and participation in this project, which will be a great opportunity to revitalize apartment communities,” adding, “We will continue to promote various projects to foster a healthy community culture that communicates with neighbors.”
