[Asia Economy Reporter Hanah Na] Twin sisters Lee Jaeyoung and Lee Dayoung, current professional female volleyball players for Heungkuk Life, admitted to their involvement in school violence, prompting the first victim who exposed the issue to say, "A single post does not erase or forgive ten years of pain. It feels hollow."
She added, "I hope they live their lives reflecting on the past and repenting. School violence can never be justified for any reason," emphasizing the point.
Earlier on the 10th, the victim who accused them of school violence posted on an online community titled "Victims of School Violence by Current Volleyball Players," sharing a group photo from their school days when they were part of the school volleyball team with Lee Jaeyoung and Lee Dayoung.
She claimed, "The victim and perpetrators shared the same room in the dormitory, and after lights out, the perpetrators forced the victim to do something. Although the tired victim refused politely several times, the perpetrators threatened her with a weapon." She continued, "They told me I was dirty and smelled bad, told me not to come near, cursed me whenever they were displeased, and insulted my parents by calling them 'your mother and father' in a derogatory way," listing over 20 instances of abuse.
She also said, "Although much time has passed, I still live with trauma caused by the perpetrators," and demanded a sincere apology from them.
Later, the author of the post revealed that the perpetrators expressed their intention to meet and apologize in person, and subsequently took down the post. As the controversy grew, on the 10th, Lee Jaeyoung and Lee Dayoung each posted handwritten apologies on Instagram.
Lee Jaeyoung said, "I caused pain to many people due to my irresponsible actions during my immature past. I bow my head and apologize," adding, "If the friends who suffered because of me are willing to accept it, I will meet them in person to acknowledge my mistakes and apologize."
Lee Dayoung apologized, saying, "I deeply apologize for my words and actions that caused painful memories and wounds to my teammates with whom I sweated and trained during my student days," and added, "I feel deep remorse for the trauma the victims have suffered and will show a humble and reflective attitude going forward."
