[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Lock&Lock announced on the 9th that it will conduct a campaign to collect and recycle old plastic airtight containers until August.

According to Lock&Lock, customers who return old plastic airtight containers that can no longer be used to stores can purchase the company's heat-resistant glass airtight container 'Top Class' at a 35% discounted price. The returned containers do not have to be Lock&Lock products. However, for upcycling purposes, the containers must be thoroughly cleaned, and single-use containers are excluded.

The campaign period is until April. Returns can be made at PlaceLL stores located in Seoul and the metropolitan area. Lock&Lock plans to continue various discount promotions with new products after April.

This event is part of Lock&Lock's year-round eco-friendly campaign 'Love for Planet,' which started last year, and is the first event held in the first half of this year. It is conducted in collaboration with the global environmental company TerraCycle.

Plastic containers collected at stores are processed into recycled plastic raw materials using TerraCycle's technology. Afterwards, they are reborn in various forms, from daily eco-friendly household items to public facilities, helping to promote environmentally friendly practices in everyday life.

A Lock&Lock official stated, "Lock&Lock is exploring various ways to practice resource circulation together with consumers," adding, "In addition to PlaceLL stores, we will expand the culture of resource circulation by installing collection boxes and encouraging participation through funding platforms."
