[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Ilum, a lifestyle furniture brand under the Persys Group, announced on the 8th that its best-selling student room series, ‘Roy’ and ‘Linky Plus,’ continue to enjoy soaring popularity as the new school semester season approaches. Riding on this popularity, they have released a new white color version of ‘Roy Mono,’ an online-exclusive version of ‘Roy.’
Ilum’s representative student room series, ‘Roy’ and ‘Linky Plus,’ are steady sellers designed by considering the growth stages, tendencies, and lifestyles of children who directly use the furniture. Both series are modular products that allow consumers to combine desired units according to the child’s preferences, creating different layouts for the space. Since these are furniture pieces for children, they are designed with the child at the center, offering convenience, safety, and a design that expresses individuality, combining style and practicality, which is also a factor in their popularity.
The Ilum ‘Roy’ series is suitable for use from elementary to high school students. It allows for the creation of a stylish and free self-directed student room by selecting the color and shape of desks, beds, and storage units according to the learning types and interests of each age group. Ilum’s ‘Linky Plus’ is a junior student room series that helps establish a child’s first study habits, characterized by meticulous attention to every detail from materials to finishing for elementary school children. It provides a learning environment suitable for the child’s body type and growth process and helps foster correct posture habits to support proper growth.
In particular, the ‘Roy’ series has been highly popular, recording double-digit sales growth for two consecutive years. Sales of the ‘Roy’ series in 2020 increased by 25% compared to 2019, and among the ‘Roy’ series, the desk is the best-selling item, with an average of 120 units sold per day in 2020, which translates to 5 units sold every hour. Sales in 2019 grew by 54% compared to 2018. As for the ‘Linky Plus’ series, more than 500,000 sets have been sold cumulatively since its launch in 2014.
Building on this popularity, Ilum has launched a new white color version of ‘Roy Mono,’ an online-exclusive version of ‘Roy.’ ‘Roy Mono’ is an online-only product introduced at a reasonable price with a compact configuration, reflecting the needs of online consumers who prioritize cost-effectiveness. The monotone gray color was released in 2019.
The newly released ‘Roy Mono’ product features a clean white color that harmonizes well with furniture and interiors of any color. It also enhances functionality by inserting a multi-tap into the desk cabinet to support electronic device usage and removing the middle shelf of the desk to facilitate monitor placement and use.
An Ilum official stated, "Since the student room is the space where children spend the most time, it is important not just to arrange furniture but to create a space that supports both learning and rest by reflecting children’s proper growth, tendencies, and preferences." They added, "Ilum has always presented new student room trends and established itself as a leading student room furniture brand. We will continue to research children’s lifestyles and focus on product development to offer better student room solutions in the future."
