[Asia Economy Reporter Nana Han] Trot singer hopeful Kang Seung-yeon appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel Puhaha TV's "Jung Ho-geun's Midnight Shrine" on the 5th and opened up about the difficult situations she faced while pursuing her dream of becoming a singer and working alone.

On that day, Kang Seung-yeon said, "I pursued singing and worked alone without anyone to help me. My parents' financial situation was not good, and their relationship was strained, so I was used to doing things by myself and started working. I went around singing and met with many companies, but there were so many issues at those companies."

She went on to say that she was even forced into drinking sessions she did not want to attend, stating, "'Why do I have to do this? I met with companies to do what I want. I didn't want to, but I thought I had to.'"

Kang Seung-yeon also revealed that she had even contemplated extreme thoughts. She said, "Sometimes you sign a contract not with a company but with an individual manager. In those cases, you inevitably have to stay at places like motels far away from the event venues. The things that happen in those situations are shocking and unpleasant."

Having experienced unethical incidents at a young age and suffering great shock, Kang Seung-yeon recalled, "(At the motel) I even thought about jumping off. It was so scary that I thought jumping would be better."

Watching this, Jung Ho-geun, recalling his own difficult past but not losing his smile, expressed sympathy for Kang Seung-yeon, saying, "Because you had so much pain in your young heart, you always put on a bright and carefree mask when you speak, but when you are alone in silence thinking to yourself, it hurts so much."
