Operation of Lunar New Year Comprehensive Situation Room on the 8th, Detailed Measures in 6 Major Areas to Alleviate Resident Inconvenience... Operation of Screening Clinics and Inspection of Quarantine Status in Response to COVID-19 Special Situation
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is implementing the ‘2021 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures’ to ensure residents have a safe and comfortable holiday during the nation’s biggest traditional holiday, Seollal.
The district has designated February 8 to 15 as a special measures period and prepared detailed plans in six key areas: ▲A warm and caring Seollal ▲An economical Seollal with stable prices ▲A comfortable Seollal without inconvenience ▲A Seollal resilient to heavy snow and cold waves ▲A safe Seollal free from accidents ▲A clean Seollal without corruption.
First, meticulous civil complaint response services are arranged in preparation for the holiday. Starting February 10, when the Seollal holiday officially begins, a comprehensive Seollal situation room will operate 24 hours a day to prevent various accidents and monitor residents’ inconveniences during the holiday period.
Efforts are also made to care for neighbors who feel lonelier during the holiday. Holiday consolation funds will be provided to 14,594 households receiving basic living subsidies and local welfare facilities, along with consolation gifts such as 1,000 bags of rice, 150 boxes of fruit, and 45 electric blankets.
Especially this year, households in crisis experiencing difficulties due to decreased income from COVID-19 will be selectively supported with consolation funds.
An emergency response system to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the holiday period will also be maintained. The Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will operate 24/7 throughout the holiday, and two temporary screening clinics (Magok 8 District Public Parking Lot and Gimpo Airport Domestic Terminal Parking Lot) will continue to operate alongside the public health center’s screening clinic (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) to ensure thorough quarantine measures.
Additionally, 36 on-duty medical institutions and 120 holiday pharmacies will be operated on a rotating duty system for emergencies, and four regional general hospitals?Bumin, Wooridul, Mizmedi, and Gangseo Yonsei Hospital?will handle emergency patients through their emergency rooms.
Information on on-duty medical institutions and holiday pharmacies available by date can be checked on the district’s website and the 120 Dasan Call Center.
Thorough safety accident prevention measures will be taken as well. Safety inspections will be conducted at major construction sites and multi-use facilities, and an emergency work system and rapid snow removal system will be established to prepare for possible heavy snow and cold waves.
In addition, customized cleaning measures, operation of traffic task forces, and food hygiene inspections during Seollal will reduce residents’ inconveniences.
A district official said, “Although these are difficult times, we will prepare more carefully to ensure that residents can spend the holiday safely and comfortably.”
