[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Interpark has joined hands with MBI to promote eco-friendly electric two-wheelers. On the 4th, Interpark announced that it signed a business agreement for cooperation in the electric two-wheeler battery sharing station project at MBI’s headquarters in Cheongju, Chungbuk.
Through this agreement, both companies will seek concrete cooperation plans in the electric two-wheeler business sector, focusing on building shared battery charging stations, maintaining and operating the stations, and expanding product sales channels. The charging stations operate via a membership-based app that allows users to locate nearby stations and swap fully charged shared batteries within one minute. Utilizing KT Linkers public phone booths as charging hubs, this service model is attracting attention for expanding the sharing economy and eco-friendly transportation systems.
An MBI official stated, "The core content of the agreement, the shared battery charging station business, is expected to contribute to the activation of electric two-wheelers and further support the government’s Green New Deal policy." He added, "We will use this agreement with Interpark as a stepping stone to establish our domestic business and do our best to target the Southeast Asian market, including Vietnam."
An Interpark official emphasized, "This business agreement is expected to be greatly helpful in achieving a win-win situation within the electric two-wheeler industry and expanding related infrastructure." He continued, "Going forward, we will leverage Interpark’s online competitiveness to enable customers to easily access product information and make purchases, as well as enjoy various benefits."
Meanwhile, Interpark previously signed an exclusive online sales contract for MBI electric motorcycles for two years until 2022. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on the 15th. More detailed information about product specifications and purchases can be found on the Interpark website.
