Enjoy Wearing Luxury 'Gucci' in Naver Zepeto

[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] It will become possible to choose and wear new Gucci items and stroll through the Gucci Villa garden within the global augmented reality (AR) avatar service 'Zepeto.'

Naver Z announced on the 5th that it has partnered with the luxury brand 'Gucci' to officially launch various fashion items and a 3D world map utilizing Gucci's intellectual property (IP) on Zepeto.

Zepeto is a metaverse platform where Generation Z (those born from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s) gather.

Naver stated, "Through this collaboration, the play culture of Generation Z will further spread within Zepeto, enhancing the platform's competitiveness, and expanding interaction with global users in their teens and twenties, which is expected to create a win-win effect for both companies."

In fact, after partially pre-releasing the Gucci virtual collection on the 15th of last month, over 400,000 secondary contents using Gucci IP were created within Zepeto in just ten days, and the number of views exceeded 3 million.

On this day, Zepeto officially launched a total of about 60 items including Gucci clothing, handbags, and accessories. Notably, the lineup includes the 'Virtual Collection' that implements some of the 2021 S/S new products and the 'Doraemon·Gucci Collection,' which has recently gained attention on social networking services (SNS).

In the 3D Zepeto world map, a virtual space featuring Gucci is newly introduced. Users can try on items directly in the 'Gucci Villa' world map, set against the backdrop of Florence, Italy, where Gucci's headquarters are located, and stroll through European-style architecture and beautiful gardens while meeting and communicating with users from around the world.

Meanwhile, since its spin-off in May last year, Naver Z has been actively partnering with various global IP operators. As of February, Zepeto's global subscriber count has surpassed approximately 200 million. Among them, 90% are overseas users, and 80% are teenagers.

Kim Daewook, co-CEO of Naver Z, said, "Amid the global metaverse trend, we believe we can offer Zepeto users a more differentiated enjoyment," adding, "We will continue to create new value in the boundless virtual world through sustainable collaborations with various global IPs."
