What Is the Most Difficult Situation This Lunar New Year Holiday? 42.1% of Single Men and Women Dislike the 'Lonely Holiday' of Having No Partner and Not Visiting Hometown

As the 2021 Lunar New Year approaches, the concerns of unmarried men and women about "how to spend this holiday" are also increasing.

A marriage information company, Gayeon, conducted a holiday survey from January 25 to February 3 targeting 221 unmarried men and women (107 men, 114 women). The result showed that the most distressing situation during this Lunar New Year holiday was "having no partner and not being able to go to hometown, spending time alone" (42.1%), ranking first.

Next were "being nagged with questions like 'Are you seeing someone? When will you get married?'" (26.2%), "being asked work-related questions like 'How much is your annual salary? Is your business going well?'" (19.5%), and "having to work during the holiday such as being on duty" (12.2%), in that order.

A Gayeon representative said, "It seems to reflect the unfortunate feelings of those who have no one special to meet during the holiday and still cannot go to their hometown due to COVID-19," adding, "Lunar New Year is especially a time when dating, marriage, and work-related advice and nagging hit unmarried men and women of marriageable age more strongly."

Accordingly, Gayeon will operate a special counseling team without change during the Lunar New Year holiday. Counseling will be available as usual during the four-day holiday from February 11 to 14. It is expected that many men and women who want to soothe loneliness or avoid their parents' nagging will inquire.

Additionally, a generous prize event will be held in February. Customers who make a counseling reservation and visit or participate in the love test and survey will be eligible for a lottery to receive abundant prizes such as LG Pra.L Eye Care, Shinsegae gift certificates, Byredo Blanche body lotion, and Starbucks Americano gifticons. The winners will be individually contacted on March 18.

A Gayeon representative added, "Usually, the counseling rate significantly increases before and after holidays because unmarried children face their parents' marriage nagging, and parents feel anxious about their children's marriage," and said, "The special holiday counseling team is prepared, so feel free to inquire."
