Dongjak-gu Launches Comprehensive '2021 Lunar New Year Safety and Enjoyment Plan'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will implement the ‘2021 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures’ from the 8th to the 15th to ensure that all residents can spend a warm and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday.

The district has prepared detailed measures in five areas: ▲resident safety ▲economic revitalization ▲traffic flow ▲resident convenience ▲neighborly sharing, and will operate a 24-hour comprehensive situation room from the day before the holiday, the 10th.

First, the district will prioritize residents’ safety from COVID-19 by implementing thorough safety measures. It will operate a COVID-19 response comprehensive situation room and screening clinics, and introduce a smart safety management system to strictly manage construction sites.

It will conduct focused inspections of multi-use facilities such as movie theaters and traditional markets, and immediately address minor issues.

Additionally, to help revitalize the local economy weakened by COVID-19, the district will relax income and asset criteria for public job participation to expand eligibility, and provide various supports for small business owners, including issuing Dongjak Love Gift Certificates.

In particular, it plans to actively support residents’ abundant Lunar New Year holidays by preparing measures to manage prices of essential goods and resolve wage arrears.

Also, to ensure smooth traffic flow, during the measure period, public and resident-priority parking lots will be opened free of charge, and parking enforcement around traditional markets and religious facilities will be relaxed.

From the 11th to the 13th, the holiday period, garbage disposal and collection will be suspended, and accumulated garbage during the holiday will be collected all at once after the 14th using all equipment and manpower.

Furthermore, to have a warm holiday with sharing, consolation money will be provided to 5,500 basic livelihood security households in the area, and five social welfare centers in the district will conduct non-face-to-face consolation events such as delivering holiday kits, holiday food and gifts, rice cake soup, and Lunar New Year living support funds.

Also, through welfare planners and visiting nurses in each neighborhood, they will check on the elderly living alone, foster families for boys and girls, and welfare institutions, and support holiday meals to minimize care gaps during the Lunar New Year holiday.

In addition, during the holiday period, emergency response will be prepared through emergency operation of ▲public health center medical guidance teams ▲on-duty medical institutions (Chung-Ang University Hospital, Seoul Boramae Hospital, Cheonghwa Hospital) and holiday duty pharmacies.

Whether emergency medical institutions and pharmacies are operating can be checked on the district website or by contacting the comprehensive situation room.

Kim Hyun-ho, Director of Planning and Coordination, said, “In celebration of the great national holiday of Lunar New Year, we will do our best to ensure that all residents can spend a happy and safe holiday through thorough implementation of comprehensive measures.”
