Technium's Sales Reach 2.3 Billion KRW Last Year... 1000% Increase YoY

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Technium, a small but strong company specializing in precision chemical materials, announced on the 2nd that its sales growth rate exceeded 1000% just two years after its establishment.

At the time of its founding in 2019, Technium's annual sales were only about 230 million KRW, but last year, sales surged approximately 1000% to about 2.3 billion KRW. The company aims to achieve sales of over 15.8 billion KRW this year, an increase of about 690% compared to last year, supported by the improving domestic semiconductor market, which is gaining global attention, as well as the realization of new growth businesses such as secondary batteries and bio sectors.

Technium is a precision chemical materials specialized company focusing on manufacturing core materials for photoresists used in semiconductor photolithography processes. Among the photoresist constituent materials, the company mass-produces and supplies key products including ▲ one type of cross linker material for semiconductors ▲ three types of PAC (Photo Active Compound) for semiconductors ▲ one type of monomer material for SOH (Spin On Hardmask) for semiconductors. Additionally, in the display sector, it produces and supplies ▲ two types of light absorbers for smartphone camera modules ▲ OLED and QLED materials.

Baek Yong-gu, CEO of Technium, said, “As the semiconductor market enters a full-fledged recovery phase, the demand for localization of core materials is increasing, and buyers are continuously expanding their demand for companies with proven technology and efficient production systems. This year, we expect visible results in new business sectors such as secondary battery material research and bio, which will contribute significantly to sales, allowing us to maintain continuous growth.”

As part of its new growth business, Technium's research and development project for secondary battery electrolyte additives also began full-scale sample deliveries last year. The secondary battery electrolyte additives developed by Technium are differentiated from existing products by multifunctionality such as HF scavenger, electrode protector, SEI formation control, and gas suppression. Two patent applications were filed last year. The company plans to file about 10 additional patents this year and aims to secure market competitiveness by jointly developing and commercializing with global secondary battery companies, including the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and Korea University of Technology and Education.

Additionally, Technium has been supplying veterinary pharmaceuticals for clinical purposes, such as antiviral agents for animals and peritonitis treatments, since last year in the bio industry sector. The company has expanded its business to include manufacturing key intermediates for antiviral agents related to COVID-19 and has started supplying major domestic pharmaceutical companies.

Technium was recognized for its remarkable growth across all its business sectors and received the Gyeonggi Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration Award last year. Earlier this year, it also obtained the certification as a specialized company in materials, parts, and equipment from the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. This certification is provided to companies primarily engaged in the materials, parts, and equipment industry and is a system that recommends and certifies companies as specialized enterprises that develop and manufacture materials, parts, or equipment to enhance the technological competitiveness of the materials, parts, and equipment industry in accordance with the enforcement of the amended “Special Measures Act for Strengthening Competitiveness of the Materials, Parts, and Equipment Industry.”
