According to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 29th, Prime Minister Suga attended the Davos Agenda, held from 7 p.m. for about 50 minutes, and emphasized that the Tokyo Olympics, scheduled to be held in July, will be realized as a symbol of 'global unity' as proof that humanity has overcome COVID-19. The Davos Agenda is a conference hosted online by the World Economic Forum (WEF) from the 25th to the 29th.
On the same day, Kyodo News reported that Prime Minister Suga mentioned multilateral diplomacy during the Q&A session following his lecture. He stated that the alliance between the United States and Japan is the cornerstone of diplomacy and security, and that he seeks solidarity with Europe, including Australia, India, and ASEAN, while also aiming to build friendly relations with China and Russia.
Meanwhile, it is known that he did not mention Korea-Japan relations. Korea-Japan relations have been deteriorating due to historical conflicts, including the issue of compensation for forced labor during Japanese colonial rule and the comfort women compensation issue.
