Focusing on Enhancing Forest Value Perceived by Residents and Protecting and Preventing Forest Resources
Gyeongnam Province held the 'This Year's City and County Forestry Officials Meeting' as a video conference with about 40 city and county forestry officials.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do held the '2021 City and County Forestry Officials Meeting' on the 29th via video conference, attended by about 40 city and county forestry officials along with the province.
At the meeting, explanations were given on the direction of Gyeongnam's forestry policies for 2021 and changes in policies, and discussions were held on current issues such as spring wildfire prevention and pine wilt disease control.
This year, with the goal of 'creating more valuable forest resources, increasing forest recreation welfare, and preventing forest disasters to protect the safety and lives of residents,' a budget of 273.2 billion KRW will be invested to enhance forest value.
Afforestation and forest tending projects will be carried out to develop forest resources, and various forest recreation facilities will be expanded to build forest recreation infrastructure linked with regional tourism resources.
Additionally, forest disasters will be preemptively blocked through measures such as deployment of wildfire prevention helicopters, designation and management of landslide-prone areas, operation of on-site landslide prevention teams, and erosion control projects.
In particular, emphasis will be placed on promoting the Smart Forest Bio Innovation Growth Cluster to establish a system for breed improvement and cultivation technology development, aiming also for job creation effects.
Yoo Jaewon, Director of the Provincial Forestry Policy Division, stated, “We plan to lead economic stimulus by executing more than 67% of the forestry sector budget early in the first half of the year and focus all administrative efforts on producing results that the entire nation can feel.”
