[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea stood at 469 on the 29th, marking the second consecutive day with cases in the 400s.
Infections originating from the IM Mission Society have spread nationwide, and small-scale cluster infections continue to occur, making it difficult to curb the spread.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 469 from the previous day to 77,395.
Regarding the infection routes of the new confirmed cases, 445 were locally transmitted and 24 were imported from overseas.
By region, 129 cases were reported in Gyeonggi, 109 in Seoul, and 18 in Incheon, totaling 256 cases in the metropolitan area alone.
Outside the metropolitan area, confirmed cases were reported in all regions except Sejong, including 54 in Gwangju, 41 in Gyeongbuk, 34 in Busan, 15 in Gyeongnam, 10 in Daegu, 9 in Chungbuk, 7 in Gangwon, 6 in Chungnam, 5 in Jeonnam, 4 in Jeonbuk, 2 in Ulsan, 1 in Daejeon, and 1 in Jeju.
Among the 24 imported cases, 9 were identified during quarantine upon entry. The remaining 15 tested positive while in self-isolation at their residences or temporary living facilities in various regions.
The number of newly released from isolation was 487, and currently, 9,493 people remain in isolation.
The number of critically ill patients was 239, and with 13 additional deaths reported the previous day, the cumulative death toll reached 1,399.
