[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] The Economic and Humanities Research Council (Gyeonginsa) under the Prime Minister held its 295th board meeting on the 28th and announced the appointment of Oh Jae-hak (64), the current president, as the 15th president of the Korea Transport Institute, and Hwang Deok-soon (56), senior research fellow at the Korea Labor Institute, as the 13th president of the Korea Labor Institute. The appointment ceremony is scheduled to be held on the 29th.
President Oh has served as the president of the East Asian Transport Studies Society (EASTS), a member of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's National Transport Committee, National Land Policy Committee, Railway Industry Committee, and Metropolitan Area Readjustment Committee, an executive member of the World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTR-S), and deputy director of research at the Korea Transport Institute.
President Hwang has served as the head of the Employment Insurance Evaluation Center at the Korea Labor Institute, a director of the Korean Social Security Association, senior secretary for jobs, planning secretary for jobs, and secretary for employment and labor at the Presidential Secretariat, and a member of the Ministry of Labor's Self-Support Project Promotion Advisory Committee.
The term of the new presidents will begin on the 1st of next month and last for three years, during which they will be evaluated annually by Gyeonginsa on management performance and research achievements.
