Donation of 1 Million Won to Gwangyang City Children's Care Foundation (재)
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 28th, Gwangyang City announced that young entrepreneurs donated 1 million won in sponsorship funds to the Gwangyang City Children's Care Foundation, creating a warm and touching moment.
Seven representatives participated in the donation: Kim Hong-shin, CEO of Hong Salon; Woo In-ryong, CEO of Kongdune; Jung Jin-ah, CEO of Atre; Lee Hyun-ji, CEO of Secret Garden; Lee Yoo-jin, CEO of Second Floor Cafe; Woo Ki-sang, CEO of Woody Workshop; and Yang Han-byeol, CEO of WiFit Pilates & Bungee.
They are young people from Gwangyang who were selected as recipients of the "Urban Vacant Store Utilization Young Entrepreneur Development Project" through the 2019 Young Startup Subsidy Project contest, received startup support funds for two years, and succeeded in starting their businesses.
The sponsorship fund donation ceremony was held the day before at the reception room of Gwangyang City Hall, and due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, only Woo In-ryong, CEO of Kongdune, attended the ceremony.
CEO Woo In-ryong said, "Thanks to Gwangyang City's startup support and the help of citizens, I was able to succeed in starting a business despite difficult circumstances," and added, "Although the amount is small, I hope it will be of help to children in need within the region."
Seo Yoon-kyung, head of the Youth Policy Team, said, "We sincerely thank the young people for their beautiful donation to the local community even during the difficult times caused by COVID-19," and added, "We hope the youth stores will prosper even more."
She continued, "We will develop policies that help young people's real lives and do our best to promote policies for youth welfare enhancement, employment, and startup support."
Meanwhile, Gwangyang City was selected in the '2019 Ministry of the Interior and Safety Regional-Led Youth Job Project' contest and promoted the 'Urban Vacant Store Utilization Young Entrepreneur Development Project.' Over two years, a total project cost of 338 million won (134 million won from the national government, 204 million won from the city) was invested to support young entrepreneurs with startup funds, rent, and various consulting services.
