Silla University Holds Student-Led 'GPS Class Model Performance Presentation' Silla University.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The student-led learning support class model directly developed by Silla University is gaining attention.

The Silla University Center for Teaching and Learning Development held the 'GPS Class Model Performance Presentation' on January 19 at 1 p.m. via the online video conferencing platform 'ZOOM.'

The GPS class is a new class model developed by Silla University in the 2020 academic year to cultivate talents with core competencies and support teaching and learning for student success.

The Silla University Center for Teaching and Learning Development created a student participation class model to develop students' G(Globality: communication competency, learning competency), P(Practice: thinking competency, cooperation competency), and S(Sympathy: sharing competency, challenge competency) skills, and piloted it in five major courses in the second semester of the 2020 academic year.

Professors participating in the GPS classes made efforts to stimulate students' learning motivation, induce active participation, and increase class satisfaction. The Center for Teaching and Learning Development supported the classes through syllabi and class consulting.

A professor from Silla University who participated in this performance presentation said, "The systematic support from the Center for Teaching and Learning Development was a great help in the successful operation of the GPS classes," adding, "It was especially a time to think about and share 'good classes' through professor study groups."

Lee Kyung-soon, director of the Silla University Center for Teaching and Learning Development, stated, "Starting with the application of this GPS class model, we will further expand student participation classes in the 2021 academic year," and added, "We will effectively develop students' competencies through institutional supplementation and improvements for the successful establishment of GPS classes."
