Gwangju City Recruits 350 Citizens for Bus and Taxi Monitoring Team

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 28th that it will publicly recruit a public transportation citizen monitoring group to monitor the friendliness, safety driving, and condition of public transportation facilities such as city buses and taxis.

The recruitment period is from the 1st to the 15th of next month, and applications can be submitted via email or mail by referring to the announcement section on the city’s website.

This year, 350 people will be recruited, an increase of 50 from last year, and a certain amount of expenses will be paid based on activity performance, with outstanding monitors selected quarterly for commendation.

Once selected as a citizen monitor, they will evaluate the friendliness and safety driving status of transportation workers from the perspective of citizens using city buses and taxis, and inspect, report, or suggest improvements for transportation-related facilities such as bus and taxi stops.

Gwangju City reflects the friendliness evaluation results conducted by the citizen monitoring group in service evaluations and supports transportation companies by differentiating subsidy funds accordingly. Last year, an average of 29 cases per day, totaling 8,946 inspections, improvements, and suggestions were received and reflected in transportation administration.

Son Doo-young, head of the city’s public transportation department, said, “The citizen monitoring group is an activity aimed at improving services from the perspective of passengers using public transportation,” and added, “We hope many citizens will show interest and participate in this public recruitment for safe and comfortable public transportation.”
