Gimhae City Overcomes COVID Blue with Closer Neighbor 'Visiting Nurse'

Gimhae-si Supports Vulnerable Groups in Health Management Amid Prolonged COVID-19 Pandemic

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam, is making every effort to support vulnerable groups who are having difficulty managing their health due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the city on the 28th, health management will be conducted under quarantine guidelines by combining non-face-to-face and face-to-face programs for elderly people experiencing feelings of isolation, depression, and lethargy due to temporary closures of senior centers and social distancing.

The city provides health consultations such as blood pressure measurement and blood sugar management through visiting nurses (14 nurses, 1 physical therapist, and 1 social worker) who have received specialized training related to infectious diseases.

In addition, simple stretching exercises that can be done at home are helping to overcome COVID-19 blues, receiving favorable reviews from participating elderly individuals.

Kang Sun-hee, Director of Health Promotion Division, said, “Considering that marginalized groups face even more difficulties in the WITH COVID era, we provide customized visiting health management services for health-vulnerable groups,” adding, “We will do our best to create a livable Gimhae where socially disadvantaged people can live together, and a hopeful welfare city Gimhae.”
