[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 28th that its own policy, the ‘Social Economy Enterprise Self-Reliance Support Project,’ has greatly contributed to creating jobs for vulnerable groups and returning corporate profits to society, thereby benefiting the local community.

Last year, the county invested 300 million won in the project to create an ecosystem where social enterprises can grow, supporting stable operation of enterprises through activation of public procurement and sales channel support.

In particular, financial support projects were expanded by enterprise type to focus on key items necessary for business operation, such as labor costs from job creation, business development expenses, and social insurance premiums.

Starting this year, the county plans to expand the target to include cooperatives. Since cooperatives have no separate support measures and face difficulties in operation, support will be provided.

Wando-gun plans to continue supporting village enterprises and cooperatives to become self-reliant and grow into social enterprises through the ‘Social Economy Enterprise Support Project’ contest, providing multifaceted support such as new product development and marketing support to expand sales channels.

Kim Seong-su, Director of the Economic and Transportation Division, said, “We will strive to create jobs through quantitative and qualitative expansion of social economy enterprises and further efforts for the local community to pursue common social goals.”
