Gwanak-gu to Recruit 206 Additional Participants for Public Jobs in the First Half of the Year

Additional Public Jobs Provided for Employment-Vulnerable Groups and Unemployed Facing Economic Crisis Due to COVID-19... Contributing to Mitigating Employment Shock and Revitalizing Local Economy Through Residents' Livelihood Stability

Gwanak-gu to Recruit 206 Additional Participants for Public Jobs in the First Half of the Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is recruiting participants for the ‘Local Quarantine Jobs’ and ‘Local Community Jobs’ programs to support residents facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19.

Earlier, the district has been operating 300 positions under the Seoul Citizens Safety Job Project (formerly public work) since January 11 to stabilize livelihoods and employment for those in economic distress such as temporarily closed or shut-down businesses, vulnerable employment groups, and the unemployed.

The recruitment period is January 29 to February 4 for the Local Quarantine Jobs program, and January 27 to February 1 for the Local Community Jobs program.

The total number of recruits is 206 (180 for Local Quarantine Jobs, 26 for Local Community Jobs).

Eligibility requires Gwanak-gu residents aged 18 or older as of the announcement date with the ability to work. Additional points are given to those unemployed or whose businesses have closed due to COVID-19. Applicants are selected after reviewing their assets, income, and other qualification information. However, those who have participated in direct job projects for more than two years in the past three years, two participants from the same household, and duplicate applicants are excluded from selection.

Working hours are five days a week, 3 to 5 hours per day (5 hours for those under 65, 3 hours for those 65 and older). Various employment benefits are also provided, including enrollment in the four major social insurances, paid holidays, and weekly/monthly allowance payments.

The project period is two months from March 2 to April 30 for the Local Quarantine Jobs, and four months from March 2 to June 30 for the Local Community Jobs. Selected candidates will be contacted individually on February 24.

Selected participants will be assigned to various district office departments and local community centers considering their preferences, experience (special skills), and health status, and will be responsible for COVID-19 response local quarantine work and facility disinfection.

Residents wishing to participate should check the district office website (News & Notices → Recruitment Announcements), bring the required documents, and apply in person at their local community center.

Mayor Park Junhee stated, “We will do our best to create local jobs that provide public employment opportunities to residents suffering economic hardships due to COVID-19, alleviate employment shocks, and revitalize the local economy by helping stabilize residents’ livelihoods.”
