Jongno-gu, the Only Seoul District Awarded 'Best' in Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Comprehensive Information Disclosure Evaluation'

Evaluation of Overall Information Disclosure Performance with 10 Indicators in 4 Areas Including 'Pre-Information', 'Original Document Disclosure', 'Request Processing', and 'Customer Management'... Jongno-gu Receives High Ratings Across the Board for Pre-Information Publication Registrations and Original Document Disclosure Completeness

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) has achieved the results of receiving the 'Excellent' and 'Highest Excellence' grades respectively in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2019 and 2020 Comprehensive Evaluation of Information Disclosure.'

In particular, the 2020 'Highest Excellence' grade was the only one obtained by Jongno-gu among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul, demonstrating the continuous efforts made to enhance the transparency of district administration.

This evaluation was conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which reviewed the information disclosure performance of central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions.

In 2019, 580 institutions, and in 2020, 587 institutions were evaluated based on 10 indicators across four areas: advance information, full-text disclosure, request processing, and customer management, assessing the overall operation of information disclosure.

Based on the evaluation rankings and scores by institution type, four grades were assigned: 'Highest Excellence,' 'Excellent,' 'Average,' and 'Insufficient.' The distribution of grades was 19% for Highest Excellence, 32% for Excellent, 42% for Average, and 7% for Insufficient.

Additionally, to ensure objective and fair evaluation, an external evaluation team composed of civic groups and experts was formed to enhance credibility.

Jongno-gu received high evaluations in this assessment for the number of advance information disclosures registered, the completeness of full-text disclosure, and the appropriateness of request processing, enabling it to be selected as an 'Excellent' institution in 2019 and a 'Highest Excellence' institution in 2020.

Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno-gu, stated, “We will not be complacent with this achievement and will continue to strive to improve residents' right to know,” adding, “Based on transparent administrative information disclosure, we will also enhance the trustworthiness of district administration.”
