[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The prosecution investigating the Optimus Asset Management (Optimus) fund fraud and lobbying allegations involving political and government circles has requested an arrest warrant for another executive of Haeduck Powerway, a ship parts manufacturer that conspired with Optimus in the crime.

According to the legal community on the 27th, the Economic Crime Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Joo Min-cheol) filed a pre-arrest warrant request yesterday against Go, former vice chairman (59) of Sebo Tech, a subsidiary of Haeduck Powerway, on charges including embezzlement and breach of trust under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, as well as violations of the Attorney-at-Law Act.

Go is suspected of conspiring with Oh, chairman (55) of KOSDAQ-listed Myungseong TNS, to embezzle 3 billion KRW from Sebo Tech funds and use it as a deposit for acquiring Semco, another KOSDAQ-listed company.

In November last year, the prosecution indicted former Haeduck Powerway CEO Park (62), Chairman Oh, and Kang, general director (55) of Sebo Tech, on charges including conspiracy with Kim Jae-hyun, CEO of Optimus (50, detained and indicted). At that time, the prosecution named Go as a co-conspirator in Chairman Oh’s indictment.

Go is also accused of embezzling several hundred million KRW by promising to settle various lawsuits faced by former and current executives during the acquisition process of Haeduck Powerway.

The pre-arrest detention hearing for Go is scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. on the 28th at the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Judge Kim Tae-gyun, who is in charge of arrest warrants.
