[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 27th that it will increase the collection compensation for agricultural waste starting from March 1.
The items with increased compensation are rural waste vinyl and waste pesticide containers. The compensation for rural waste vinyl will be raised from 60~140 KRW per kg to 110~190 KRW per kg depending on the collection condition, and for waste pesticide containers, it will be increased from 100 KRW per kg to 150 KRW per kg.
To facilitate smooth recycling when disposing of agricultural waste, rural waste vinyl must be discharged after removing moisture, soil, and foreign substances. Also, waste pesticide containers should be cleaned of foreign substances and sorted by item before disposal.
For waste pesticide containers with residual pesticides, if they are disposed of at the Eup, Myeon, Dong administrative welfare centers, sanitation workers will collect them and safely process them through specialized processing companies.
A city official warned, "If there are violations such as illegal incineration, landfill, or abandonment of agricultural waste, fines will be imposed according to the Waste Management Act."
