Jungnang-gu Conducts COVID-19 Preemptive Testing for Over 7,000 Workers at Multi-use Facilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is conducting proactive COVID-19 testing until February 9 for over 7,000 workers at multi-use facilities such as restaurants and karaoke rooms to ensure residents can safely enjoy food and entertainment.

This testing aims to prevent the spread of infection in advance amid the recent trend of increasing cases with unknown infection routes and a rising proportion of asymptomatic confirmed cases.

The testing targets a total of 6,974 locations, including ▲3,720 general restaurants ▲900 snack bars ▲338 karaoke practice rooms ▲152 PC rooms and arcades ▲105 lodging businesses.

Business owners and workers who wish to be tested can visit the temporary screening clinics located at Mangu Station Park and Myeonmok Station Plaza regardless of symptoms. The screening is conducted anonymously. Operating hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. However, the clinics close for one hour from 12:30 p.m. on weekdays for disinfection. For smooth testing, food service businesses will be tested by neighborhood, and detailed schedules can be found on the Jungnang-gu Office website.

Earlier, on the 2nd, the district sent notices to each business and the Jungnang-gu branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association, encouraging active participation by providing individual text message notifications about the testing schedule.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “We ask business owners and workers to get tested for the health and safety of themselves and their neighbors.” He added, “We will make every effort to block community infection spread by implementing proactive measures such as preemptive testing.”
