"The answers were too perfect, giving them away"... A trio dreaming of a perfect crime with the 'Geonchuksa Certificate'

Grading Officer: "There Can Be No Blueprint Identical to the Model Answer"

"The answers were too perfect, giving them away"... A trio dreaming of a perfect crime with the 'Geonchuksa Certificate' On the 26th, SBS reported that there were suspicions of issues with last year's 'Architectural Engineer Exam.' Photo by SBS Broadcasting Station.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A group involved in obtaining the answers by approaching the examiners for the Architect National Examination certification has been arrested. The answers were too perfect, which led to their capture.

On the 26th, SBS reported that suspicions were raised about the 'Architect Examination' conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and administered by the Korea Institute of Registered Architects in September last year.

According to the report, the answer sheets of two successful candidates in the exam were suspiciously perfect.

The problematic question required designing a blueprint according to given conditions.

The question involved linking the teacher's office, counseling room, medical room, and management office, but the order and placement could vary for each examinee.

However, all these conditions matched the expected answer sheet exactly.

The grading staff said, "Due to the nature of design blueprints, it is impossible to have answers exactly identical to the model answer. It is suspicious," and reported it to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

A Ministry official told SBS, "(The professor) was very confident that the probability of identical answers occurring was one in tens of thousands. The police also said expert consultation was sufficient. It is an academic consensus that such identical answers cannot occur."

Police, who began an investigation at the Ministry's request, found leaked answer sheets on the successful candidates' mobile phones.

Among the three involved, one approached the examiners as an assistant and took photos of the answer sheets, leaking them to the other two.

They reportedly met while working at the same architectural office and needed the certification to start their own office after resigning.

The Ministry plans to immediately cancel their passing status once their guilt is confirmed in court after the case is prosecuted.
