Jeonnam Province Selected as Top Institution with Grade 1 in Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province was selected as the best institution by receiving a Grade 1 in the Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation of Public Institutions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission last year. This achievement marks the province’s success as an excellent anti-corruption institution for four consecutive years.

According to the province on the 26th, the ‘Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation’ is a system designed to enhance the integrity level of the public sector by evaluating the anti-corruption efforts autonomously pursued by each public institution. The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission has been announcing the results annually since 2002.

This evaluation was conducted on 263 public institutions, and among metropolitan local governments, Jeonnam Province and Chungcheongbuk Province both received Grade 1.

The province received Grade 3 in 2015 and 2016, Grade 1 in 2017 and 2018, Grade 2 in 2019, and Grade 1 last year, achieving the accomplishment of being an excellent anti-corruption institution for four consecutive years.

The evaluation was divided into seven areas related to planning, execution, and performance dissemination. The province received the highest rating in three areas: establishment of anti-corruption systems, operation of anti-corruption systems, and dissemination of anti-corruption policies.

Additionally, it received commendable evaluations in four other areas?anti-corruption promotion plans, expansion of participation in integrity policies, efforts to eliminate corruption risks, and anti-corruption policy outcomes?achieving Grade 1 overall.

In particular, the province was highly praised for its active efforts to improve unreasonable laws and systems that caused corruption in the public sector and public grievances, as well as for spreading a culture of integrity and anti-corruption to cities, counties, and public institutions.

Lee Gilhwan, Integrity Support Officer of Jeonnam Province, said, “This achievement as the best institution is the result of the interest and efforts of all employees regarding anti-corruption. Although there were some regrets in last year’s integrity evaluation, we will do our best to leap forward as an excellent integrity institution based on this evaluation result.”
