Recruitment of First Cohort Students for 'Agricultural Food Processing Startup Training'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 26th that it will recruit 20 students for the 1st session of the "Agri-food Processing Startup Education" on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the 5th of next month to improve farmers' income and revitalize local agricultural processed products by training specialized personnel in agricultural product processing.
The Agri-food Processing Startup Education will be held 10 times (once a week) from March 3 to April 29, covering basics of agricultural product processing and theory and practical training on the use of processing machines, with the tuition fee fully waived.
The education program will proceed step-by-step reflecting farmers' demands and skill levels, covering from basic processing to operation techniques of processing equipment, product commercialization, distribution and sales, and marketing strategies, including the latest consumer trends.
Graduates of the program will be given priority when using the Yeosu Agricultural Product Processing Support Center, scheduled to be completed this year, to provide practical assistance in revitalizing processed products.
Applicants must be farmers residing in Yeosu City and can apply in person at the Rural Development Division of the Agricultural Technology Center with a certificate of agricultural management registration (agricultural management registration number) or a farming ledger from the 5th to the 15th of next month.

A city official stated, "We will do our best to restore vitality to agriculture and rural areas and increase farmers' income by creating new sources of income," adding, "We hope many passionate and challenging farmers who will open the future of agriculture apply."
Meanwhile, based on the satisfaction survey of the 1st session students, the city plans to proceed with the 2nd session of education after October.
