[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] The daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Japan has dropped to the 2,000 range for the first time in nearly a month.
According to local media on the 25th, as of 8:15 PM, the number of new COVID-19 cases reported across Japan was 2,764. This is a decrease compared to mid-month figures that approached 5,000. Additionally, this is the first time since December 28 of last year that the daily cases have been in the 2,000 range.
With this, Japan’s cumulative number of COVID-19 cases has reached 369,197. The death toll increased by 74 on the day, bringing the total to 5,207.
The new cases by region on this day were highest in Tokyo with 618, followed by Kanagawa Prefecture with 351, Chiba Prefecture with 291, and Osaka Prefecture with 273.
