[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County, Jeollanam-do (County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) announced on the 25th that it will distribute masks to all residents ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

This is the third time Haenam County has distributed masks to all residents, following February and September of last year, as the best preventive measure to stop the spread of COVID-19 ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The distribution amount is five KF94 grade masks per person, which will be sent collectively by mail before the Lunar New Year holiday. To this end, the county has secured 400,000 masks and plans to distribute them after sorting by household.

Earlier, the county has also been focusing on economic quarantine by providing disaster basic income of 100,000 won per person to revitalize the economy. As of the 20th, a total of 66,669 people, 96.5% of the residents, have received the disaster basic income, and a second application period for those who have not received it will be held from the 8th to the 19th of next month to ensure that as many residents as possible benefit before the Lunar New Year.

Along with this, the county is actively creating a quarantine atmosphere by urging residents and hometown visitors to refrain from traveling, practicing social distancing such as banning gatherings of five or more people, and conducting campaigns for a contactless holiday.

Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, "I would like to once again emphasize that wearing a mask is the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19," and added, "I hope that during this holiday, instead of meeting in person, we practice being together in spirit so that all residents can have a healthy and peaceful holiday."
