President Moon to Deliver Special Keynote Speech at World Economic Forum on 27th at 4 PM

2021 Davos Agenda Special Speech by Korean President Held via Video Conference with AstraZeneca CEO and Others Attending

[Asia Economy reporters Jungmin Ryu and Jieun Lee] President Moon Jae-in will attend the video conference of the ‘2021 Davos Agenda Korea Special Address by the Head of State,’ hosted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), at 4 p.m. on the 27th.


Im Se-eun, deputy spokesperson of the Blue House, stated on the 25th, "The World Economic Forum invited President Moon Jae-in to the ‘Davos Agenda Week’ special meeting of heads of state, considering Korea’s quarantine measures, the Korean New Deal, and responses to climate change."


Deputy Spokesperson Im expressed expectations, saying, "This reflects the international community’s high evaluation of the Korean government’s policies amid the COVID-19 crisis. Since prominent figures including CEOs of leading global companies, international organizations, and government officials from various countries will attend, it will serve as an opportunity to enhance global leadership."

The 2021 ‘Davos Agenda Week,’ themed ‘A Crucial Year to Rebuild Trust,’ will be held virtually from the 25th to the 29th, featuring special meetings of heads of state, high-level meetings, and thematic sessions.


The ‘2021 Davos Agenda Korea Special Address by the Head of State’ will begin with an opening by Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum, followed by President Moon’s keynote speech, a Q&A session, and closing remarks, lasting about one hour. President Moon is expected to emphasize health and medical cooperation to overcome COVID-19, the promotion of the Korean New Deal, participation in climate change response such as carbon neutrality, and attracting investment to Korea.


The Q&A session will be divided into four areas: ① Korean New Deal general, ② health and medical care, ③ digital New Deal, and ④ green New Deal. In each area, 2 to 3 people will ask questions, and President Moon will respond directly in a discussion format.


Meanwhile, attendees of the Korea Special Address video conference include Angel Gurr?a, Secretary-General of the OECD; Orit Gadiesh, Chairman of Bain; John Studzinski, Vice Chairman of PIMCO; Peter Piot, Dean of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; Pascal Soriot, CEO of AstraZeneca; Jim Snabe, Chairman of Siemens; B?rje Ekholm, CEO of Ericsson; and Beno?t Potier, CEO of Air Liquide.
