KOSPI and KOSDAQ Both Start Slightly Higher

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Both KOSPI and KOSDAQ opened with a slight upward trend.


On the 25th, KOSPI opened at 3144.01, up 0.11% (3.38 points) from the previous trading day. As of 9:16 AM, it rose further to 31253.05.


In the KOSPI market, individual investors were net buyers of 148.4 billion KRW. On the other hand, foreigners and institutions were net sellers of 96.8 billion KRW and 42.7 billion KRW, respectively.


Many sectors showed gains. The transportation and warehousing sector had the largest increase at 3.10%. This was followed by the service industry (1.21%), food and beverage (1.14%), and non-metallic minerals (1.17%). Meanwhile, banking (-1.10%), transportation equipment (-0.65%), and machinery (-0.62%) declined.


Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks also rose. SK Hynix (1.9%), Celltrion (1.7%), NAVER (1.1%), and Kakao (0.8%) led the gains. Samsung SDI (-0.7%), Samsung Biologics (-0.6%), and Hyundai Motor (-0.5%) fell. Samsung Electronics remained flat.


KOSDAQ also opened higher at 981.05, up 0.11% (1.07 points) from the previous trading day. As of 9:16 AM, it further increased to 985.69.


In the KOSDAQ market, individual investors were the sole net buyers, purchasing a total of 46.8 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions were net sellers of 35.5 billion KRW and 11.8 billion KRW, respectively.


Most sectors also rose. The distribution sector increased the most at 2.04%, followed by broadcasting services (1.52%), other services (1.42%), telecommunications and broadcasting services (1.25%), and digital content (1.02%). Information devices (-0.40%), telecommunications equipment (-0.37%), and other manufacturing (-0.18%) declined.


Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks also showed upward trends. CJ ENM had the largest gain at 3.0%, followed by Celltrion Healthcare (2.1%), Kakao Games (1.7%), Celltrion Pharm (1.6%), and Alteogen (0.9%). Only EcoPro BM (-0.6%) and SK Materials (-0.1%) declined.
