Songpa-gu Environmental Officer Hwang Eui-deok Receives Applause for Beautiful Donation

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Hwang Eui-deok (56), a public official (sanitation worker) working in Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su), donated 1 million won to low-income families struggling due to the infectious disease crisis, practicing warm neighborly love.

Donor Hwang Eui-deok has been working as a public official (sanitation worker) in Songpa-gu for over 30 years, quietly performing street cleaning duties every morning, breaking the darkness of the city to ensure a pleasant living environment for neighbors.

This time, his meaningful sharing is warming the local community and becoming a model for those around him.

In particular, donor Hwang Eui-deok stated, “I have always been grateful to Songpa-gu, where I have lived and worked as a public official for over 30 years,” and “After my mother-in-law recently passed away, I received warm condolences from many people, and I want to return that warmth to the elderly around me who are suffering from the double hardship of COVID-19 and severe cold.”

The district office delivered the donation to the Community Chest of Korea on the 18th, following the donor’s wish that it “be a small help for the warm winter of marginalized neighbors.”

This donated fund will be used through the Community Chest of Korea to support low-income elderly people in the local community.

Meanwhile, the district office, in cooperation with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, is conducting the ‘2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Fundraising Campaign’ until February 15.

Residents, companies, and organizations wishing to participate can consult or visit their local community service center for registration.

Songpa-gu Mayor Park Seong-su said, “I sincerely thank Public Official Hwang for his good deed of practicing neighborly love while striving to improve urban cleanliness despite difficult circumstances,” and added, “Continuous interest and love for the local community will help solve welfare blind spots, and we will strive to further spread a warm donation culture.”
