Application Submission Starts from February 1st in Collaboration with Korea Expressway Corporation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 24th that it will start accepting support applications from February for the free provision project of Hi-Pass discount terminals in collaboration with Korea Expressway Corporation.
This year, 1,420 units will be provided free of charge, 130 more than last year.
In February 2019, Daegu City signed a business agreement with the Korea Expressway Corporation Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters (Head Son Jin-sik) to launch the nation’s first free distribution project of Hi-Pass discount terminals for the disabled. Through this, 1,130 terminals were distributed free of charge in 2019 and 1,290 in 2020.
This project has been benchmarked by local governments nationwide, promoting it as a model case for improving mobility convenience for the disabled. The terminal support target is registered disabled persons residing in Daegu City.
Applicants can visit one of the 47 tollgate offices of the Korea Expressway Corporation Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters from next month, bringing their vehicle registration certificate and integrated disability welfare card.
Park Jae-hong, Director of the Welfare Bureau of Daegu City, said, "The free provision project of discount terminals, first implemented by Daegu City, has received great response, and now several local governments are conducting or planning to conduct the project. We will continue to develop welfare policies for the disabled and promote policies to improve welfare for the disabled."
