[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County invested military funds to provide disaster basic income to all residents, achieving a receipt rate of 96.5%.

According to Haenam County on the 22nd, from the 7th to the 20th, disaster basic income of 100,000 won per resident was paid, with a total of 66,669 residents having completed receipt.

Despite the procedure of submitting an application form and receiving local gift certificates to obtain the disaster basic income, a very high payment rate was shown.

In particular, considering the reality of many elderly residents and inconvenient transportation in rural fishing villages, in addition to reception at the eup/myeon offices, the county also visited residents with mobility difficulties to receive applications and provide payments on site, gaining great response.

During the application period, eup/myeon staff directly visited villages on weekends to check for non-applicants, receiving applications from over 4,100 residents, delivering benefits to more residents through proactive administration.

The county paid the disaster basic income entirely in Haenam Love Gift Certificates to help revitalize the local economy, achieving a dual effect of circulating funds within the region.

The county plans to conduct a second application reception from the 8th to the 19th of next month for 3,284 non-recipients, aiming to ensure as many residents as possible receive benefits. Most non-recipients are residents on long-term absence due to hospital stays, and the county will resend application notices and strengthen resident publicity on receipt methods.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “By giving up weekends and providing application reception services visiting villages, we were able to greatly increase the payment rate,” and added, “I hope all non-receiving residents will definitely receive the disaster basic income during the second application period without exception.”
