Yoo Si-min: "Allegations of Prosecutors Accessing Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Files Are Not True... I Will Refrain from Political Commentary"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoo Si-min, director of the People’s Life Foundation Roh Moo-hyun, apologized regarding the allegation that the prosecution accessed the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation’s account, stating, "I have determined that it is not true." He also expressed his willingness to accept responsibility beyond just an apology.

On the 22nd, Director Yoo stated, "On the YouTube broadcast ‘Alileo,’ I raised the suspicion that the prosecution might have accessed the financial transaction information of the foundation’s account at some point between late November and early December 2019."

He said, "Everyone has the right to raise suspicions, but when exercising that right, they must bear the burden of proof," adding, "I sincerely apologize to all those involved in the prosecution for causing suspicion that the prosecution surveilled me due to baseless allegations." He continued, "I do not think an apology alone is sufficient, and I will humbly accept any form of accountability."

He also apologized for dragging the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation into political conflict due to this controversy.

He said, "It was an act contrary to the duty of a director who should strive to enter the hearts of the people as a broad-minded leader, like the sea that embraces all rivers, as President Roh Moo-hyun did," and "I ask for the forgiveness of our supporters."

Director Yoo reflected on himself, saying, "I acted like a party to political disputes, going beyond the limits of criticism. I ‘demonized’ opposing parties and completely distrusted the words of public prosecutors. I was consumed by excessive emotional hostility and fell into logical confirmation bias. I failed to maintain a critical distance from my own thoughts and feelings."

He said, "I stopped political criticism last April, and I will no longer engage in any political commentary on current affairs."
