[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced the '2019 Gyeongsangbuk-do Youth Statistics' on the 22nd to establish youth policies based on statistics.

The Gyeongbuk youth statistics were first compiled in 2018 and prepared for the second time last year. This is a processed statistic that integrates and combines data held by institutions such as Gyeongbuk Province, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the National Pension Service, along with about 10 types of nationally approved statistics including housing ownership statistics, newlywed couple statistics, and regional employment surveys.

This data is composed of 108 indicators across six fields (population and households, economy, jobs, startups, welfare, health) targeting local youth aged 15 to 39. Compared to 49 indicators in 2018, 59 indicators such as college graduate job transition paths and mental health were added.

The youth population (aged 15 to 39) in Gyeongbuk was 729,156 as of the end of 2019, accounting for 27.4% of the total population (2,639,422). The gender ratio was 54.4% male to 45.6% female.

The average monthly income for all youth combined was as follows: 3.2% earned over 7 million KRW (3.6% male, 1.9% female), 1.9% earned between 6 to 7 million KRW (2.3% male, 0.6% female), and 5.6% earned between 5 to 6 million KRW (6.3% male, 2.9% female).

Additionally, 8.2% earned between 4 to 5 million KRW (9.2% male, 4.8% female), 18.6% earned between 3 to 4 million KRW (21.3% male, 9.6% female), 31.7% earned between 2 to 3 million KRW (33.4% male, 26.3% female), 16.3% earned between 1 to 2 million KRW (11.4% male, 32.5% female), and 14.5% earned less than 1 million KRW (12.4% male, 21.4% female).
