[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]The Navy announced on the 22nd that over 50 deep-sea divers (SSU) from the Special Warfare Group's Underwater Rescue Unit are conducting cold-weather endurance training around the Jinhae naval base area.

Following COVID-19 prevention guidelines, from the 20th until the previous day, training such as fin mask swimming and scuba diving to search for sunken vessels was conducted.

On the final day of training, the Navy stated that teams will perform pedaling training by rowing rubber boats to cultivate maritime survival skills. This training was designed to develop the physical and mental capabilities necessary to carry out missions under any circumstances.

Established in 1950 as the Navy Underwater Operations Unit, the Underwater Rescue Unit has been deployed not only for military operations but also to various maritime accident sites to conduct rescue activities.
