[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) held a time on the 20th to receive ‘Warm Winter with Hope Ondol’ goods from Hansol Education Hope Foundation (hereinafter Hansol Foundation), the social welfare corporation entrusted with the operation of the district’s Childcare Comprehensive Support Center.
In December last year, the district signed a private consignment contract with Hansol Foundation, which has expertise and accumulated experience in the childcare field, for the operation of the district’s Childcare Comprehensive Support Center for the next five years.
The Hansol Foundation, entrusted with the operation, promised to actively manage the center by mobilizing all human and material resources and experience in the childcare field.
Accordingly, to welcome the New Year 2021, Hansol Foundation participated in the ‘Warm Winter with Hope Ondol’ project and donated 345 books, including children’s life and knowledge encyclopedias, for infants and children to the district’s Childcare Comprehensive Support Center.
The foundation announced plans to continuously support books, teaching aids, and other materials to the Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and local daycare centers in the future.
The district’s Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, operated by Hansol Foundation, provides one-stop services from childbirth to childcare, including ▲home childcare counseling and parent education for infant families ▲consultation related to daycare center operation ▲education for childcare staff ▲daycare center evaluation certification consulting, serving as a control tower for the local childcare environment.
The district’s Childcare Comprehensive Support Center opened in February 2009 at its current location (5, Singil-ro 40-gil, Yeongdeungpo-gu) and has established itself as a representative care and childcare institution of the district, marking its 12th year this year.
It operates affiliated facilities such as the Mamdeundeun Center, Toy Library, Open Childcare Room, and Hourly Childcare Room. In particular, the ‘Mamdeundeun Center,’ a safe play space for infants and toddlers, is a specialized facility unique to Yeongdeungpo and is very popular among parents.
Last year, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, existing events and childcare programs were provided online through YouTube channels and other platforms, increasing residents’ participation and interest.
This year, considering the COVID-19 situation, various cultural events and experiential programs will be expanded and operated in a non-face-to-face format using online channels, and detailed and continuous childcare services will be promoted to support daycare centers and home childcare.
Additionally, the Childcare Comprehensive Support Center is planned to move to the Singil 12 District Social Welfare Complex Facility, which will be completed in 2023, enabling smoother childcare operations in a better environment.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “The Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, together with Hansol Foundation, selected as the entrusted operator, is expected to open a new chapter in the district’s childcare projects and play a central role in Yeongdeungpo, the number one place for childcare,” adding, “We will spare no effort to provide various support for a spacious Yeongdeungpo that is good for raising children.”
