'Child' Kim Hyang-gi "Working with Great Actors, Driving Force for Acting"

'Child' Kim Hyang-gi "Working with Great Actors, Driving Force for Acting"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actress Kim Hyang-gi revealed that working with good actors is the driving force behind her acting.

On the morning of the 21st, during an online production report meeting for the film "Ai" (Director Kim Hyun-tak), Kim Hyang-gi said, "Ayong and I grew up in different environments, but I felt we were similar, so I was curious."

In the film, Kim Hyang-gi played Ayong, a college student about to graduate from the Department of Child Studies and a child protection termination youth. Ayong chooses babysitting as a means of livelihood.

She said, "I felt that Ayong resembled me. While reading the script, I had no questions like 'why would she do that?' about the character's words and actions. She definitely grew up in a different environment from me, so I was curious why she seemed similar to me."

She continued, "I felt we were similar as people. Ayong has a bigger void that cannot be filled by effort than I do. Due to the influence of her upbringing, she always has self-defense mechanisms and an obsession with making stable choices."

Director Kim Hyun-tak stated, "Just because someone does not express their sadness does not mean they are not sad. Some people endure it calmly, and I saw the main character Ayong as one of those people."

Also, Kim Hyang-gi said, "The energy I receive while working with good actors makes me focus. It became the driving force that made me want to act better."

"Ai" depicts warm comfort and healing that begins when Ayong (played by Kim Hyang-gi), a child who became an adult too early, becomes the babysitter for Young-chae (played by Ryu Hyun-kyung), a novice mother raising a child alone without anyone to rely on. The film stars Kim Hyang-gi, Ryu Hyun-kyung, Yeom Hye-ran, and others. It will be released on February 10.
