[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The arrest warrants requested by the prosecution for the professors suspected of illegally admitting Ms. A, the daughter of former Yonsei University International Campus Vice President Lee Kyung-tae, to graduate school have been dismissed.

On the 20th, Kwon Kyung-sun, the judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Western District Court, conducted a pre-arrest detention hearing for professors Jang and Park of Yonsei University's Business School, who are accused of obstruction of business, and dismissed the arrest warrants, stating, "It is difficult to recognize the grounds and reasonableness for detention."

After the hearing, Professor Jang's lawyer refrained from commenting, saying, "There is nothing to say," while Professor Park's lawyer stated, "He never received any illegal requests or instructions," and added, "He did not know that the applicant was the daughter of former Vice President Lee."

It has been identified that Professors Jang and Park were exam evaluators when Ms. A took the entrance exam for the general graduate program in Business Administration at Yonsei University in 2016. In April of last year, the Ministry of Education requested an investigation by the prosecution based on an audit result that six evaluators at the university colluded with the chief professor to manipulate oral exam scores to admit Ms. A to the Business Administration graduate program in 2016.

Ms. A ranked 9th out of 16 applicants in the document screening, which involved quantitative evaluations such as university grades and English scores, but was found to have passed the final exam by receiving a perfect score of 100 in the qualitative oral exam.

The prosecution is reportedly investigating a total of 10 professors from Yonsei University's Business School, including those mentioned above.
