[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) held the '2021 Red Cross Special Membership Fee Delivery Ceremony' at the district office on the 20th.

This was to create an atmosphere of voluntary participation among residents in the fundraising campaign.

The ceremony lasted 30 minutes, including a commemorative photo session and a meeting, attended by five people including Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, Han Hye-sook, Chairperson of the Yongsan-gu District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society, and Park Myung-sook, Director of the Korean Red Cross Central Volunteer Center.

Mayor Seong Jang-hyun said, "We have paid a special membership fee of 1 million won to the Korean Red Cross in the name of Yongsan-gu Office," adding, "I hope this delivery ceremony will serve as a catalyst to encourage participation from ordinary residents."

The Korean Red Cross is conducting a membership fee fundraising campaign from December last year until the end of January. The fundraising targets include household heads, individual business owners, corporations, organizations, and other interested parties, with payment options available via giro payment, virtual accounts, and internet payment.

The collected funds are used for domestic disaster relief, international reconstruction projects, overseas emergency disaster relief, public safety education, and public healthcare sectors. Last year, approximately 1.6 million people received assistance from the Korean Red Cross.
