[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Seo Young-seo] On the 20th, the Shinan County Council in Jeollanam-do announced that Chairman Kim Hyuk-seong participated in the ‘Expecting Local Autonomy Challenge’ to prepare for the era of Local Autonomy 2.0.
Chairman Kim Hyuk-seong was nominated by Hong Seon-ui, chairman of the Pyeongtaek City Council, a sister local government, and expressed his enthusiasm for local autonomy while holding a sign engraved with the phrase, “The Shinan County Council, creating local autonomy with our own hands, will prepare.”
This challenge was initiated to celebrate the leap of local autonomy through the full revision of the Local Autonomy Act for the first time in 32 years, which includes strengthening the authority and responsibility of local councils and guaranteeing residents’ participation in autonomy, and to share hopes for the realization of resident-centered local autonomy.
Chairman Kim Hyuk-seong said, “The development of local areas is the development of the nation, and the happy life of Shinan residents is the happiness of the Republic of Korea,” adding, “As we enter the upcoming ‘Local Autonomy 2.0 era,’ please join us for true local autonomy.”
Chairman Kim Hyuk-seong nominated Chairman Cho Cheol-su of Ongjin County Council and Chairman Park Geum-rye of Jindo County Council as the next participants to accompany the ‘Expecting Local Autonomy’ challenge.
