Positive Feedback on the Development of Regionally Specialized 'Localized Curriculum' for Local Ecology

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 20th that it was selected as an excellent district in the 'Future Education District' contest hosted by the Ministry of Education and received the Minister of Education's institutional commendation.

On the previous day, Suncheon City held a commendation ceremony at Suncheon City Hall attended by Mayor Heo Seok, Suncheon Education Director Lee Yong-duk, and Suncheon Pulppuri Education Autonomy Cooperation Center Director Lim Kyung-hwan, where the commendation was awarded by Superintendent of Education Jang Seok-woong.

Suncheon was highly evaluated for establishing the Suncheon Pulppuri Education Autonomy Cooperation Center centered on the private sector, creating an educational cooperation structure among local governments, education support offices, villages, and schools, and developing localized curricula specializing in the region's ecology such as Dongcheon.

In particular, through the Regional Education Power Recovery Practice Community Roundtable, the activation of citizens' autonomous participation in education policy has been promoted, drawing attention as a nationwide exemplary case.

Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon stated, "Through the Future Education District, I hope that education will become a driving force combined with various imaginations, making the Suncheon educational community movement more active."

Meanwhile, Suncheon City has been actively promoting the education governance movement by being selected for the Ministry of Education's Future-type Education Autonomy Cooperation District national funding contest this year as well as last year.
