[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Ssangyong Cement has expanded direct support for coexistence and development with the local community by donating buildings and land worth 5 billion KRW to Donghae City.
On the 20th, Ssangyong Cement announced that it recently delivered a fund of 5 billion KRW to Donghae City to support the Samhwa-dong area urban regeneration project around the Donghae plant and the construction of the 'Donghae Youth Sports and Culture Center,' which aims to improve the education and cultural level of Donghae City's youth.
In addition, the company made donations of buildings and land for coexistence and development with the region, including a cultural regeneration project to transform old facilities and buildings used for cement production into tourist attractions, and remodeling support for the Mureung Welfare Center, a resting place for local residents.
Lee Hyun-jun, CEO of Ssangyong Cement, said, "Ssangyong Cement has become a leading company in the domestic cement industry thanks to the unwavering support of local governments and communities. Going forward, Ssangyong Cement will continue to make greater efforts to promote sustainable development by improving coexistence with the local community and enhancing the quality of life for local residents as a member of the community."
Recently, Ssangyong Cement also purchased local love gift certificates worth 840 million KRW to help local small business owners struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The company has been consistently engaging in activities with the community, such as delivering masks and hand sanitizers, providing emergency disaster relief funds, delivering briquettes of love, and supporting snow removal vehicles.
